Overlooking the Schuylkill River, in the heart of the City Center in Downtown Philadelphia, stands a beautifully modernized building crowned by RoofScreen Mfg.’s VisionGuard Architectural Aluminum Louvers.
The five-story building required a very large rooftop screen to conceal HVAC mechanical equipment from view. RoofScreen’s VisionGuard L10 angled louvers with black paint finish were chosen as the cladding by the architect to complement the modern design of the building.
Standing 25 ft high above the roof surface, the 784 linear foot equipment screen utilized over 16,000 square feet of louver blades. RoofScreen’s innovative design with concealed clip trees and continuous blades provides a streamlined aesthetic without mullions.
RoofScreen’s design team provided fully detailed and engineered shop drawings. All the louvers were pre-cut and shipped as a kit to reduce field installation time. The simple design allows the installers to follow the shop drawing details, quickly snapping the louver blades into place.
A main feature of this project is the sign and logo of the primary tenant, Aramark Corporation, incorporated into the RoofScreen. The Aramark bright red sign has been a fixture in the City Center skyline on their previous building about a mile away for many years, and it was important to proudly display it on this new building. RoofScreen’s design team worked with the builder and architect to incorporate the required mechanical support details to mount the sign over the RoofScreen louvers.
